Mag Wheels

There are a number of reasons you should choose mag wheels for your car. Mag Wheels are light, durable, conduct heat well and look great. Because mag wheels are so light they also improve handling and braking performance.

If your not concerned about the performance of mag wheels then you should at least consider them for their appearance. You can find a large range of great looking wheels from a range of manufacturers including Sparco, Speedline, Motegi, Weld, BBS Wheels, SSR Wheels and more!

Mag wheels are typically made from magnesium, thus their name, but now most alloy wheels are referred to as mag wheels. The other option for your wheels is steel wheels. Steel wheels can provide greater strength but usually do not come in the variety of styles as alloy mag wheels.

when considering some new mag wheels you should consider the manufacturing process. Some mag wheels are manufactured using "casting" while others are "forged". I highly recommend getting forged mag wheels as these are going to be lighter and allot stronger. The only downfall is that they can be more expensive.

Mag Wheels Offset

Offset is the distance between the back of the wheel where it mounts to the car and the wheels centerline. You can find the offest of your wheels stamped on the inside of your wheels or sometimes on a label placed on your mag wheel.

Mag wheel offset is measured in millimeters, so an offset of 45 means you have 45mm from the back of the wheel to the center of the wheel.

Positive offset wheels means the face of the wheel is closer to the front of the wheel, while negative offset wheels have the face further towards the back. If you have 0 offset mag wheels then the face of the mag wheel is even with the centreline of the wheel.

Mag Wheels Fitment

Make sure when purchasing mag wheels that you select the correct size as specified from your manufacturer. You will need to make sure that your new wheels have the same PCD (pitch circle diameter) and offset. If you do not get these correct your wheels may not fit correctly. If you have your offset too negative you can foul your tyres on your suspension.

If you are cleaning your mag wheels make sure you use proper wheel cleaner and warm soapy water. Do not use any harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. If you look after your mag wheels they should last you a long time.
